Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 14, 2026  ·  Last revised: July 14, 2026

1. Who We Are

Blue Star Grit is a parenting support service operated by Blue Star Grit LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Blue Star Grit," "we," "us"). Our services include our website at https://bluestargrit.com and the Blue Star Grit app, including Ask Ginny, our AI parenting coach (together, the "Services").

We take your privacy seriously — you trust us with information about your family, and this policy explains in plain language what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].

2. What Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored in encrypted form). We also keep records of your membership plan, subscription status, and login activity.

Information about you as a parent. Our onboarding and coaching features invite you to share information so guidance can be tailored to your family — for example, your household structure, your parenting style and goals, the challenges that brought you to us, how you tend to react in hard moments, your co-parenting situation, and reflections on your own upbringing. Sharing this information is your choice; the more you share, the more personalized our coaching can be.

Information about your children, provided by you. As a parent or guardian, you may provide information about your children — such as first name, age, gender, temperament, what lights them up, what triggers them, and how they behave when overwhelmed. This information is provided and controlled entirely by you, the adult account holder. We use it for one purpose: to personalize the parenting guidance we give you. See Section 11 for more on how we handle children's information.

Your conversations and logs. When you chat with Ask Ginny, we store your conversation history so the coaching can build on what you've shared. If you use behavior logging features, we store those entries. We know these conversations can contain sensitive personal and family details, and we treat them accordingly.

Payment information. Payments are processed by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of your purchases and subscription status; we do not store your full card number on our systems.

Phone number (SMS). We collect your phone number only when you voluntarily provide it via our web forms, and use it only for the service alerts or marketing messages you have opted into. See Section 7.

Usage information and cookies. Like most websites, we collect basic usage information and use cookies. See Section 8.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide personalized parenting coaching. Your family profile, conversation history, and logs are used to generate guidance tailored to your family. This is the core of the Services.
  • To operate your account — registration, login, password reset, purchase fulfillment, and administrative messages.
  • To support your safety. If a conversation includes signals of a crisis — such as thoughts of self-harm — our Services are designed to set coaching aside and present crisis resources (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). We keep internal records of these events to make sure this safety system works as intended.
  • To respond to your questions at [email protected].
  • To send you marketing communications you can opt out of at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • To improve the Services and for other legitimate business purposes consistent with this policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell information about your children. Ever.

4. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Services, and only as needed for them to do their jobs:

  • AI provider. Your messages to Ask Ginny, together with the family context needed to personalize responses, are processed by our AI service provider (OpenAI) solely to generate responses within the Services.
  • Customer relationship and email platform. We use a CRM platform to manage member communications. Synced information includes your contact details, membership status, engagement information, and summary family fields (such as children's first names, ages, and personality types) so our communications with you are relevant.
  • Payment processing. Purchases are processed by our payment processor.
  • Infrastructure. Our application and database run on established cloud hosting providers.

We may also disclose information where required by law — to comply with applicable law, a governmental request, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

5. Legal Bases for Processing

We process your personal information: to perform our contract with you (delivering the Services you purchased); with your consent (which you can withdraw); for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services; and to comply with legal obligations.

6. How Long We Keep Information

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. If you close your account or ask us to delete your information, we will delete it, except where we need to retain limited records to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations. To request deletion, email [email protected] — requests are handled individually by our team, and we will confirm when complete.

7. SMS Consent and Text Messaging

We collect your phone number only when you voluntarily provide it via our web forms. It is used strictly to send you the service alerts or marketing messages you have opted into.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help, or contact [email protected].
  • We do not share your SMS opt-in data or consent with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our website to enable core functionality, understand how the site is used, remember your preferences, and measure the effectiveness of our communications.

  • Essential cookies enable movement around the site and access to secure areas; these cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics and performance cookies collect aggregated information about site traffic and usage that does not identify individual visitors.
  • Functionality cookies remember choices you make.
  • Targeting and advertising cookies may be used to measure campaign effectiveness.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect site functionality. Where required by law, we will request your consent for cookies on your first visit.

9. How We Protect Information

We protect your information through organizational and technical security measures, including encrypted password storage, access controls, and secure infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately given its sensitivity.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. Requests are handled individually by our team. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data protection laws; we will honor valid requests in accordance with applicable law.

United States processing. The Services are operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Like most websites, we do not currently respond to Do Not Track signals.

California residents have specific rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. Exercise these rights via [email protected]. We do not sell personal information as defined under California law.

11. Children's Information

The Services are designed for and offered to adults — parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly permit children under 18 to register, do not market to children, and do not knowingly collect information directly from children.

Information about children within the Services is provided by you, the parent or guardian, within your own account, for the sole purpose of personalizing the parenting guidance you receive. You control this information: you can review, update, or ask us to delete it at any time via [email protected].

If you believe a child under 18 has created an account or provided us information directly, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

12. Community and Shared Accounts

Community. Your membership includes access to a private member community. Anything you post there — comments, questions, stories — is visible to other members. Please share thoughtfully, and avoid posting information about your children or family that you would not want other members to see. This policy covers what Blue Star Grit does with your information; other members' use of what you choose to post is not within our control.

Caregiver accounts. If your plan includes a second caregiver account, the caregivers on a family account may have access to shared family information within the app, such as child profiles. Add a second caregiver only if you are comfortable sharing this information with them.

13. Important Note About Our Services

Ask Ginny is an AI coaching tool that offers parenting support and education. It is not a medical, mental health, or emergency service, and it does not provide professional or clinical advice. If you or your child are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911 in an emergency.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last revised" date and is effective as soon as it is accessible. For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
